House defends military spending on NASCAR

WOW ! ! !  NASCAR AND POLITICS IN A BLOG TOGETHER !

For anyone that knows me and knows me well, NASCAR is my sport. OK it might not be the same sport it was 20 years ago, and definitely not the same sport as it was in 1948 at it's birth.

NASCAR is different than any other sport in America. NO UNIONS, thank God. If you want to start a NASCAR  team, you will need some major financial backing. Just like Saturday night racing, these cars cost money to build and race.

This is where this blog comes together.

NASCAR  is as American as apple pie. It's roots are deeply seeded in the south. It grew into a National, actually an International Sport. People from all over the world love NASCAR.

Like I said, these NASCAR teams cost money, big money, easily north of 25 million dollars just to run one car a full year competitively. So owners of the teams go after corporate sponsorship to fund their teams. A much different business model than let's say Football or Baseball.

A few week's ago a Democrat from Minnesota,, ( MOST LIKELY A SOCIALIST, ) deceided the Armed Forces should not waste their money, ( SHE, THE REP.BETTY McCOLLUM FROM MINN, PROBABLY WOULD BE ABLE TO WASTE IT BETTER ! )  on sponsoring NASCAR teams.

What dear Rep. Betty McCollom failed to realize is, when you sponsor a NASCAR team, you get a good return on you investment. ( Betty is probably so used to just flushing money down the toilet, she didn't understand this concept. )

Betty wanted to slash the Armed Forces NASCAR money from63 million to 20 million dollars @ year. The House voted  167-260 to kill her Admendment. Rep. Bill Young ( R-Fla ) said spending money on NASCAR is a recruiting tool. the ARMY alone is expected to attract 28,700 prospects this year, just from NASCAR. and give recruiters access to 182 schools through it's sponsorship.

I doubt Rep.Betty McCollom ever was close to a NASCAR race, to watch the Military Fly overs or to see how our Military participates in the NASCAR  opening cermonies, or to see how Patriotic NASCAR fans are.

In closing, all I have to say is this. D.C. blows a ton of our money. I'm glad to see a small portion of it is put to good use.

YOURS IN LIBERTY ! ! !

  1. I don't understand this concept, it's OK to blow a ton of money if YOU agree on the cause of the wasteful spending. How can you honestly say that this is money spent on good use? NASCAR Military fly overs = Not wasteful spending. Education = Wasteful spending. Something is wrong with this picture.

  2. WHEN YOU PUT YOUR NAME ON A NASCAR RACECAR, YOU GET A LOT OF TV EXPOSURE. STUDIES HAVE SHOWN THAT YOU DO RECEIVE A GOOD RETURN ON YOUR INVESTMENT. CALL ANY CORPORATE HEAD QUARTERS ASK FOR THE MARKETING DEPT, (ASSUMING THE SPONSOR A NASCAR RACE CAR), AND YOU WILLFIND OUT WHAT I MEAN. SOME OF THE BIGGER SPONSORS ON WINNING RACE CARS SPEND NORTH OF $20 MILLION DOLLARS. THEY WOULDN'T SPEND IT IF THEY WERE NOT GETTING A GOOD RETURN.
