Capitol Hill’s Dysfunction Long in the Making

A lot of people are asking the same question. How did Capitol Hill get to the point to where it cannot legislate anymore ?

To be honest, there is no single answer to this incredibly great question. There are many factions that went into letting our Legislative Branch get so out of hand.

First and foremost, the majority, not everyone, but the majority of both Houses of Congress either do not understand this countries Constitution or they deliberately choose to ignore it.

Second big problem, Union's and lobbyist period. If these two powerful forces were limited on the amount of influence they could put on Congress, we would have a much smoother running Congress.

Third on the list, I probably should have made this the first. The size of our Government is by all means way too big. I have written a few blogs on this subject. I'm going to pick my favorite waste of money, The Dept. of Interior. Why on God's green earth do we have this Dept. It's a waste of taxpayers money and in it's own little way affects Congress by wasting it's time and resources.

Fourth , this is a biggie, we need term limits on Congress. Plain and simple, A U.S.Senator should be able to serve 12 years, then he's done. U.S. Congressman, 8 years, if his/her constituents want them in there that long. Career politicians  get that D.C. mentality that they can do and spend what ever they want and they can not.

I could sit here all day and give you reasons why our Government in D.C. is dysfunctional. If we start with the Four examples listed above, we would be well on our way to a more productive Congress.

YOURS IN LIBERTY ! ! !
