As a Constitutional Conservative, the Patriot act infringes on my Constitutional Rights. As an American it does the same thing. At the same time, it has protected us too.
Ten years after it passed, I believe we are living in different times. I'm debating whether they are better or worse.
There has to be a way to craft a form of the Patriot Act that would intrude less on Americans and tighten the screws on non-Americans in this country and coming into this country.
I know that some would call this profiling, and there point would be?
If we keep close tabs on the visitors to this country, we might at times catch an American doing something he is doing to hurt our country.
Like I said, it's a double edged sword, no really perfect answer. I don't think innocent Americans should be caught up in this mess, but maybe that's the nature of the beast.
We need to find a healthy balance between civil liberties and a safe country, and then call that the New Patriot Act.
